The Emerald Creek design team is sharing all this week some of the new products that will be released at Creativation (formerly known as CHA) on Saturday. There are some fantastic new products that you won't want to miss out on, so make sure to get your order in early! It's all about the new products for our projects this month and the design team has created some wonderful projects for you. For my piece, Kim challenged me to use the new Gladiolus stamp, so I ended up creating a sympathy card that features the new stamp as well as the fabulous new stones. I'm warning you now, that you'll definitely want to order all the stones! Grab a cup of your favourite beverage and enjoy reading my tutorial so that you can recreate my sympathy card at home. Also make sure to scroll down to the bottom as I'am also sharing my class I will be teaching in the Emerald Creek Craft Supplies Booth.
To start, apply Emboss It ink to the You are in our thoughts stamp. Stamp onto a piece of 100lb White Cardstock. Once the sentiment has been stamped, sprinkle Midnight Black Embossing powder overtop. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with your heat tool. Let your sentiment cool. Once your sentiment has cooled, cut it down and create a banner out of it.
Take a edge distressor and distress the edges of the sentiment banner. With a blending tool, ink the edges of the sentiment banner with Black Soot Distress Ink. With the edges inked, on the sentiment banner, mount the sentiment onto a piece of black cardstock. With the sentiment on the black cardstock. Cut around the banner leaving a 1/8" of black showing. Take a edge distressor and distress the edges of the black cardstock banner. With a blending tool, ink the edges of the black cardstock banner with Black Soot Distress Ink.
Next, you'll want to apply Jet Black Archival ink to the Gladiolus stamp and stamp onto a piece of 100lb White Cardstock. Reapply the ink to the stamp and stamp another flower image. When stamping your flower, make sure to leave enough room around both flowers, so that you can create a base to adhere your coloured gladiolus. Cut one of the flower images to 2" x 3 3/4". Once the flower image has been cut, distress the edges of the paper and use a blending tool with Black Soot Distress Ink on it to ink the edges of the paper.
Colour the other flower using Candied Apple and Mowed Lawn Distress Markers. Once the flower has been coloured, fussy cut it out. After the flower has been cut out, use your blending tool with Black Soot Distress Ink on it to go around the edges of the flower. Adhere three black stones in the centre of each flower. Once the three black stones have been adhered in the centres, adhere a silver/gold stone in the middle of the black stones.
Cut a piece of 100lb White cardstock that measures 3 1/2" x 4 3/4". With the cardstock cut, apply Emboss It ink to the Kimilese stamp and stamp onto the top portion of your paper. Reapply the Emboss It ink the stamp and stamp onto the bottom portion of the same piece of white cardstock. With the words stamped, sprinkle Midnight Black Embossing Powder over the entire piece of cardstock. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Let the embossing cool. With the embossing cooled, apply Candied Apple and Festive Berries Distress Ink over the entire surface which ends up creating your own custom background paper. Once your happy with the red ink on your paper, distress the edges of the paper and then ink the edges using Black Soot Distress Ink on a blending tool.
Cut a piece of black cardstock that measures 2 1/4" x 4". Use a edge distressor to distress the edges of the paper.
Cut a piece of red cardstock that measures 4" x 5 1/4". Use a edge distressor to distress the edges of the paper. Once the edges have been distressed, ink the edges using a blending tool and Black Soot Distress Ink.
Now it's time to assemble the card. Adhere the non coloured flower to the black piece of cardstock. Foam square the black piece of cardstock 1/2" from the left and top of the custom background paper.
Adhere the custom background to the black piece of cardstock. Adhere the black piece of cardstock to the red piece of cardstock.
Foam square the coloured Gladiolus to the black and white Gladiolus image.
Cut a card base from 100lb White Cardstock that measures 5 1/2" x 11" and score at 4 1/4". Adhere the "You are in our thoughts" banner to the right of the Gladiolus image. Once the sentiment has been adhered, adhere the card front to the cardbase. To finish the card, add seven black stones in the bottom left and top right corner to create photo corners.
Here are a few close up shots of my card.

Beautiful card! You did an amazing job with the Gladiola stamp, and given me some ideas for mine too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy! I'm glad that I've given you some ideas on how to use the stamp. I can't wait to see what you create!
DeleteKatelyn, well done! I love how you've used the stamps and have given me inspiration for the loose script stamp I received in my package. Great use of the gemstones as flower centers! An inspiring make! And your take and make projects look fabulous, too! It's fun to see how many products you've packed into these tags! Truly little works of art! I bet you are having a blast by now! Sending hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara Emily! So glad that I was able to give you some inspiration. My new favourite thing is adding the stones in the middle of flowers.
