Remember to Make Memories

Welcome to the Emerald Creek Blog Hop! If you come Ann Barnes or Kim Evans Blog, you have arrived at Katelyn Grosart's Blog (that's me). If you are starting at my blog, make sure to head over to Ann Barnes and Kim Evans Blog to see their beautiful projects. Make sure to read all the way to the end of the blog post where we have a giveaway and links to their blogs.

For my project for the blog hop, I've created this Remember to Make Memories Wall Hanging which features stencils from Stencil Girl as well as Glacé Paints, Patterned Paper by Ann Barnes and stamps by Nicole Wright Designs from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies. You'll want to read below as I share with you a full tutorial on how to recreate my wall hanging at home.

To start, you'll need to die cut a 3 3/4" Fitted Indented Rectangle out of a piece of Watercolour Cardstock. Place the Assorted Tris stencil over top of the rectangle. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Ruby, paint some of the triangles in the bottom left corner of the rectangle. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Sapphire, paint some of the triangles in the bottom right corner of the rectangle. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Amethyst, paint some of the triangles in the top right corner of the rectangle. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Topaz, paint some of the triangles in the top left corner of the rectangle. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Onyx, paint the edges of the rectangle.

Die cut a 3 1/2" Stitched Indented Rectangle out of a piece of Watercolour Cardstock. Place the Circles Mini Printmaking Stencil #1 over top of the rectangle as desired. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Ruby, paint some of the hearts in the bottom left corner of the rectangle. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Sapphire, paint some of the zig zags in the bottom right corner of the rectangle. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Amethyst, paint some of the flowers on the top right side of the rectangle. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Topaz and Sapphire, paint some of the strips in the top left corner of the rectangle. Use a heat tool to set the paints. Move the stencil around so that you have one of the circles in the middle of the rectangle. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Diamond and Emerald, paint the image from the circle in. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Onyx, paint the edges of the rectangle.

On a piece of watercolour cardstock, place one of the circles from the Circles Mini Printmaking Stencil Set #1 on it. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Diamond and Emerald, paint the image in. Heat set the paint. Die cut a 2 3/4" Stitched Circle out of the painted image. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Onyx, paint the edges of the circle.

From the Harmony - All Dotted Up Paper Pack, you'll need the yellow dot paper. Die cut a 3" Fitted Circle out of the paper. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Onyx, paint the edges of the circle.

Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Remember to make Memories stamp from the Fallen Blossom stamp and stamp onto a piece of watercolour cardstock. Cut the saying into two strips. Using a waterbrush and Glacé Paint in Onyx, paint the edges of both strips.

Foam square the 3 1/2" rectangle to the 3 3/4" rectangle.

Adhere the 2 3/4" circle to the 3" circle.

Foam square the 3" circle 7/8" from the bottom and 3/8" from the left of the 3 1/2" rectangle.

Adhere the Remember to Make Memories strips as desired on the circles.

Punch two holes at the top of the 3 3/4" rectangle. Tie a piece of white twine through the two holes to create the hanging portion for the wall hanging.

Here are a few closeup photos of the finished wall hanging.

Stencil Girl & Emerald Creek Craft Supplies Blog Hop

Happy Friday! Today's blog post is exciting as I'm participating in a blog hop with Stencil Girl and Emerald Creek Craft Supplies. Both of these companies have fantastic products and I highly encourage you to go and check them out. If you've come from Emma's blog welcome or if you've just joined me, you'll also want to stop by Stencil Girl's and Emerald Creek Craft Supplies blogs.

For my project, I combined a variety of stencils from Stencil Girl as well as stamps and embossing powders from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies to create my Happy Birthday Card. So, grab a cup of your favourite beverage and learn how I created my card. You'll also want to read all the way down to the bottom of my post as there is a giveaway as well as the next blog to visit.

To start, cut a piece of cardstock that measures 4" x 5 1/4". Cut a piece of ephemera to the same 4" x 5 1/4" as the cardstock piece. Adhere the ephemera piece to the cardstock piece.

Paint a layer of Paper Artsy Midnight paint over top of the ephemera cardstock piece. With the midnight colour down, paint a layer of Paper Artsy French Roast Paint over top of the Midnight Layer. The last layer of paint to add is the Paper Artsy Claret Paint overtop of the French Roast layer.

Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Kimilese stamp and stamp at the bottom of the now painted cardstock piece. Reapply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Kimilese stamp and stamp at the top of the now painted cardstock piece. Dry the ink.

Place the Paint Splatters stencil overtop of the piece of cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Ground Espresso Distress Ink through the stencil. Dry the ink. Move the stencil slighty to the right and then use a blending tool with foam to blend Potting Soil Archival Ink through the stencil. Dry the ink.

Place the Coffee Cup Rings stencil overtop of the cardstock piece. Use the Emboss It dabber and dab through the Coffee Rings. Take the stencil off. Sprinkle Salted Wine Embossing Powder overtop of the coffee rings. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Take the Emboss It Dabber and rub it along all four edges of the cardstock. Sprinkle Seth Apter's Baked Texture Embossing Powder in Ancient Amber around the edges. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Place the Text & Texture - Explore Stencil overtop of the cardstock piece. Use the Emboss It dabber and dab through the explore stencil as desired. Take the stencil off. Sprinkle Midnight Black Embossing Powder overtop of the images left from the stencil. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

From the left over ephemera, tear a piece that measures approximately 1 1/4" x 3 1/8". Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Happy Birthday stamp. Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment in the middle of the ephemera piece. Place the splatter stencil overtop of the ephemera piece and use a blending tool with foam to blend Potting Soil Archival Ink through the stencil. Ink the edges of the ephemera piece using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Wrap twine at the bottom of the cardstock piece six times. Adhere the Happy Birthday ephemera piece 1/2" from the bottom and right to the edge of the right hand side of the cardstock piece. Rub the Emboss It Dabber along the edge of the ephemera piece. Sprinkle Seth Apter's Baked Texture Ancient Amber Embossing Powder along the edge. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Cut a piece of black cardstock that measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  Adhere the cardfront to the black piece of cardstock. Cut a piece of white cardstock that measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4". Adhere the black piece of cardstock to the cardbase.
