Lucky Clover Challenge on the Emerald Creek Dares Blog

It's time for a new challenge on the Emerald Creek Dares blog, featuring "Lucky Clover". When we received this challenge it took me a while to figure out what I was going to do. I don't normally do anything for St.Patricks Day, so this was a great challenge for me. For my project I decided that I would create a fun St. Patricks Day themed tag.

To start my tag,  I blended Lucky Clover and Twisted Citron Distress Ink onto the tag with my blending tool. Once I was happy with the blended colour, I spritzed some water onto the tag to give it a  watermarked effect.

After the watermarks had dried, I added some shamrocks on the background of my tag using the smallest heart from the heart stencil by Tim Holtz and Lucky Clover Distress Ink.

Before the background on my tag was finished, I went around the edges with Tim Holtz Embossing Distress Ink. Once the ink was around the edges, I covered the edges using Vegas Gold Embossing Powder from Emerald Creek. After the edges were covered, I heated the embossing powder with my heat tool.

I wanted to use the Floral Frame Corners in a couple of the corners on my tag, so I covered them using Gold Adirondack Alcohol Ink to continue keep on my gold and green theme.

I wanted to add a Leprechaun onto my tag, so I used the Paddy stamp from Emerald Creek and stamped it onto white cardstock.  I coloured my Paddy using Lucky Clover, Black Soot and Antique Linen Distress Markers. Once the colouring was done, I precision cut around him.

The next part was the fun part, creating my own custom shamrocks. The nice thing about shamrocks is they don't have to be perfect, so I took my Dina Wakley - Collaged Hearts stamp and stamped four small hearts onto my white cardstock. Once they were stamped, I covered the hearts with Embossing Distress Ink and sprinkled St. Paddy's Day Embossing Powder from Emerald Creek over top of them. After the hearts were covered with the embossing powder, I heat embossed them and then cut them out with scissors.

After the large shamrocks were created, I moved on to creating two sets of smaller shamrocks. Since I didn't have smaller stamps, I used the large heart from the heart stencil by Tim Holtz. I created 8 hearts using Lucky Clover and Twisted Citron Distress Ink. Once I was happy with the colouring of the shamrocks, I cut each one out. With the leftover white cardstock, I blended Lucky Clover and Twisted Citron onto the cardstock and then cut out strips for my shamrocks.

The final piece that I needed to create for my tag was a title. I blended Lucky Clover and Twisted Citron Distress Ink onto another piece of white cardstock. Once the colour was the way I wanted it, I took some alphabet stamps I had and stamped "LUCKY" onto the coloured cardstock. After the tittle was stamped and cut out, I went around the edges with Embossing Distress Ink and then sprinkled Vegas Gold Embossing Powder over top. Once the embossing powder was on, I embossed it with my heat tool.

Some finishing touches for my tag was placing the shamrocks were I desired first before adhering my gold corners to my tag. I also wanted to hide my Paddy, so I placed him amongst the sparkly clover to draw a bit of attention to him. Once the other two shamrocks and the title were placed, I adhered the gold corners. The final finishing touch to my tag was the custom ribbon, I dyed it with Lucky Clover Distress Spray Stain and Perfect Pearls Mist in Perfect Pearl.
