We're kicking off a new die cut design team challenge on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today. For June it's all about creating a project that isn't a card. With the challenge in mind, I created a "Beautiful" scrapbook layout "Beautiful" on a 5"x7" Canvas board that features a variety of dies from ModaScrap, Els van de Burgt Studio as well as A Way with Words. You'll also notice there is some fabulous new patterned paper from ModaScrap on my project. Make sure to read below as I have a tutorial for you so that you can re-create my "Beautiful" Scrapbook Layout on a canvas board at home. Read all the way down to the bottom as I have some information at the end of the post on how to get in on a fabulous giveaway from Elizabeth Craft Designs.
To start, cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 5" x 7".
From the Feather patterned paper, cut one piece that measures 4 7/8" x 6 7/8" and cut a second piece that measures 4 3/4" x 6 3/4". Distress the edges of each feather patterned paper piece with an edge distresser. Ink the edges of each feather patterned paper piece using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Blending Tool.
Cut a piece from the floral patterned paper that measures 4 1/2" x 6 1/2". Distress the edges of the floral patterned paper piece with an edge distresser. Ink the edges of the floral patterned paper piece using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Blending Tool.
Using the medium Entwined Circle die, die cut the entwined circle out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the outside edges of the entwined circle using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Blending Tool.
From the Thinking about....Polinesia paper collection, pull out the navy and purple polka dot papers. Die cut a 2 1/2" stitched rectangle out of each piece of paper. Distress the edges of each stitched rectangle patterned paper piece with an edge distresser. Ink the edges of each stitched rectangle patterned paper piece using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Blending Tool.
With the polka dot paper still out, die cut the small dragonfly out of the purple polka dot paper. Die cut the large dragonfly out of the navy polka dot paper. Ink the edges of the dragonflies using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Blending Tool.
With the Stitched Rectangles still out, die cut the 3" stitched rectangle out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Distress the edges of the stitched rectangle with an edge distresser. Ink the edges of the stitched rectangle patterned paper piece using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Blending Tool.
Die cut a 3 3/4" Stitched Square out of feather patterned paper. Distress the edges of the stitched square piece with an edge distresser. Ink the edges of the stitched square piece using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Blending Tool.
Using the 3 1/4" stitched square die, die cut the square out of the floral patterned paper. With the square cut, place the 2 3/4" stitched square in the middle of the floral patterned paper and run the square through your die cutting machine. Push out the middle of square. This will leave you with a frame for your photo. Distress the edges of the stitched square frame with an edge distresser. Ink the edges of the stitched square frame using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Blending Tool.
While your Stitched Square dies are still out, die cut your photo using the 3 1/4" stitched square.
Using the Stitched Fishtail Banners Die, cut the 1 1/8" banner out of leaf patterned paper. Once the banner has been cut, flip the banner die to the non pennant side and cut out the other side to create the banner pennant on that side. Distress the edges of the banner with an edge distresser. Ink the edges of the banner using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Blending Tool.
The last element to die cut is the "Beautiful" word out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.
Before we start adhering the layout together, you'll need to pull out a 5" x 7" Canvas Board.
Adhere the 4 3/4" feather patterned paper to the White Soft Finish Cardstock piece. Adhere the White Soft Finish Cardstock piece to the 5" x 7" canvas board.
Adhere the floral patterned paper piece to the feather patterned paper piece.
Adhere the navy polka dot stitched rectangle 1/4" from the top and 3/8" from the left of the floral patterned paper piece. Adhere the purple polka dot stitched rectangle 1/4" from the bottom and 3/8" from the right of the floral patterned paper piece.
Foam square the White Soft Finish stitched rectangle over top of where the purple and navy polka dot papers meet.
Adhere the leaf patterned paper banner to the middle of the White Soft Finish Cardstock stitched rectangle.
Adhere the floral patterned paper frame over top of your photo. Adhere the entwined circle to the feather patterned paper stitched square. Foam square your picture to the middle of the feather patterned paper stitched square.
Adhere the feather patterned paper stitched square to the middle of the leaf banner and White Soft Finish Cardstock stitched rectangle.
Adhere the small dragonfly to the large dragonfly. Adhere the large dragonfly to the right of your picture. To finish off the front of your scrapbook layout, adhere the "Beautiful" word to the bottom portion of your photo.
To finish off the back of your canvas board, adhere the
4 7/8" x 6 7/8" piece of feather patterned paper to the back of your canvas board.
And here's your finished "Beautiful" Scrapbook Layout.
