Surprise! Happy Birthday Els Blog Hop

It's Els van de Burgt's birthday and what better way to celebrate but with a surprise Birthday Blog Hop with the Elizabeth Crafts Design Team! Happy Birthday Els!

We hope you will join us in making Els birthday special, by dropping by our Elizabeth Craft Designs Family Facebook Group and wishing her a happy birthday!

The hop started at the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog, so if you just happened to hop onto my blog you might like to head back to there first so you don't miss out on any of the fun!

My project for the blog hop is a a Happy Birthday Card featuring dies from Suzanne Cannon, Joset Designs and Els van de Burgt Studio. Grab a cup of your favourite beverage and enjoy the tutorial below so that you'll be able to recreate my card at home. Make sure to read the entire blog post so that you can head over to the next designer's blog as well as there is another surprise at the bottom of the post.

To start, die cut the Flourished Oval Frame out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. With the frame cut out, ink the edges using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the Happy Birthday from the Words 1 - Celebration die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Blend Cracked Pistachio and Broken China Distress Ink overtop of the words using a blending tool with foam.

Using the small butterfly from the Butterfly Flourish die, die cut two butterflies out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Choose two of the leaves from the Trio of Leaves die. Die cut the two chosen leaves twice out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Once the leaves are die cut out, use a blending tool with foam to blend Shabby Shutters Distress Ink over all four leaves.

From the Small Flower Set, choose two flowers. The first flower will be cut out four times from White Soft Finish Cardstock. The second flower will be cut out two times from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut the centers of the flowers once out of White Soft Finish cardstock. You'll end up needing three centers. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Milled Lavender Distress Ink over two of the four flowers as well as one of the centers. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Seedless Preserves Distress Ink over the rest of the flowers as well as two of the centers.

Die cut the 1 1/2" Stitched Fishtail Banner out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the edges of the banner using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Choose a patterned paper piece from the Fly & Scrap Patterned Paper Pack. Die cut the 4 1/2" Stitched Rectangle from the patterned paper piece. Ink the edges of the piece using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Choose another piece of patterned paper from the Fly & Scrap Paper Pack. Cut the piece to 3 3/4" x 5". Ink the edges of the patterned paper using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Choose a third piece of patterned paper from the Fly & Scrap Paper Pack. Cut the piece to 4" x 5 1/4". Ink the edges of the patterned paper using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Now it's time for assembly.

Adhere the 3 3/4" patterned paper piece to the 4" patterned paper piece. Foam square the flourished oval frame to the middle of the 3 3/4" patterned paper piece. Adhere the Happy Birthday sentiment to the middle of the frame.

Adhere the two matching Seedless Preserves Flower with center together. Adhere the flower, butterfly and one leaf to the top right side of the frame.

Adhere one seedless preserve flower to a milled lavender flower. Adhere a milled lavender center to the middle of the seedless preserve flower. Adhere the other milled lavender flower to the seedless preserve flower. Adhere a seedless preserve center to the middle of the milled lavender flower. Adhere the flowers, butterfly and three leaves to the bottom left side of the frame.

Adhere the stitched fishtail banner to the middle of the 4" patterned paper piece. Foam square the 4" patterned paper piece to the 4 1/2" stitched rectangle.
To finish the card, cut a cardbase out of cardstock that measures 4 1/2" x 11 1/2", score at 5 3/4". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.
