It's time for a brand new Designer Challenge on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog today. For October's challenge it's all about Krista Schneider and her new Christmas Stamps. The inspiration for my project came from Krista's new Winter Animals Stamp and Dies. With that stamp in my hand, I also added a few other stamps from Krista Schneider, dies from ModaScrap, Els van de Burgt Studio and Joset Designs as well as paper from ModaScrap to create my Happy Holidays card. Grab your favourite holiday beverage and read below as I have a tutorial for you so that you can re-create my card at home. You'll want to make sure to read all the way down to the bottom of this post as there's some details on how to get in on an awesome giveaway from Elizabeth Craft Designs.
To start, choose two patterned papers from the ModaScrap - White Christmas Paper Pack. Die cut the 4" Dashing Rectangle out of one of the patterned papers. Die cut the 3 1/2" Dashing Rectangle out of the other patterned paper. Ink the edges of both patterned paper rectangles using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Die cut a 3 1/2" Stitched Fishtail out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Snowflake stamp and stamp onto the top portion of the banner. Repeat the previous step three more times on the top half of the banner. Sprinkle Iridescent Shimmer Embossing Powder over the top half of the banner. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Ink the edges of the banner using Ground Expresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 2 1/4" x 3 1/2". Place the curvy Adventure Edge 1/4" from the top of the cardstock piece. Run through your die cutting machine. Trace the bottom half of the now snow piece so that it will sit at the bottom of the fishtail banner. Ink three edges of the snow piece.
Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Fox stamp from the Winter Animals Stamp Set, stamp onto a piece of watercolour cardstock. Using Tombow Markers - 990, 249, 969, 555 and 933 to watercolour the fox in. Once the ink has dried, die cut the fox out. Ink the edges of the fox using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the tree stamp from the Holiday Trees & Ornaments Stamp set and stamp onto a piece of watercolour cardstock. Reapply the Jet Black Archival Ink to the tree and stamp on the same piece of watercolour cardstock. Using Tombow Markers - 847, 249 and 969 to watercolour the trees. Once the ink has dried, die cut the two trees out. Ink the edges of the trees using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Happy Holidays Banner from the Elves Stamp Set and stamp onto a piece of watercolour cardstock. Using Tombow Markers - 847 and 249 to watercolour the banner. Once the ink has dried, die cut the banner out. Ink the edges of the banner using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Adhere the 3 1/2" dashing rectangle to the 4" dashing rectangle.
Adhere the snow piece on three sides to the bottom of the fishtail banner. Foam square the fishtail banner to the 3 1/2" dashing rectangle.
Adhere one of the trees on the right side of the card in behind the snow. Foam square the other tree on the top of the snow. Make sure the two trees have a variety of height.
Foam square the fox in behind the front tree. Adhere the Happy Holidays Banner to the top left corner of the fishtail banner.
To finish off your card, cut a cardbase that measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.
Here are a few closeup shots of the card.
And here's the finished Happy Holidays Card.
