Happy Wednesday!
I've been playing with Charlene van der Vorst stamps this past long weekend. For my project today, I created this Boo! Halloween Card. To create my card, I've used a variety of stamps from Charlene as well as dies from Joset Designs and the Planner Essentials Collection. You'll want to read below as I have a full tutorial on how to recreate my card at home.
To start, die cut a 4" Stitched Indented Rectangle out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Next you'll need the plus stamp set from the Journaling Elements. Apply Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink to the plus stamp, stamp off and then stamp randomly onto the stitched indented rectangle. Reapply ink to stamp and stamp off as needed, you'll need five plus patches. Distress the edges of the rectangle. Ink the edges of the rectangle using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Die cut the tab from the Planner Essentials - 4 die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut the arrow from the Planner Essentials - 2 die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the tab. Spritz the tab with water. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the arrow. Spritz the tab with water. Ink the edges of the tab and arrow using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Die cut a 3/4" Stitched Fishtail Banner out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Boo! sentiment from the Halloween Party stamp set and stamp onto the left hand side of the fishtail, making sure the notch is on the left hand side. Cut the fishtail down to 3 3/4". Distress the edges of the fishtail. Ink the edges of the fishtail using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the kitty stamp from the Halloween Party stamp set and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the pumpkin stamp from the Halloween Party stamp set and stamp onto the same piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock you just stamped on. Using Scribble sticks, use a watercolour brush and scribble sticks to colour in the kitty and pumpkins. Once the images have been coloured and dried, fussy cut the images out. Ink the edges of the images using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
From the Planner Essentials - 3 die, die cut the photo frame out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso Distress Oxide over the entire surface of the photo frame. Spritz the frame with water. Apply Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide Ink to the brick/grid stamp from the Journaling Elements stamp set, stamp off and then stamp randomly onto the square from the inside of the frame. Reapply ink to stamp and stamp off as needed, you'll need two more brick/grid stamps. Distress the edges of the frame and square. Ink the edges of the square and frame using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Use foam squares to adhere the square from the instead of the frame 7/8" from the top and 3/4" from the left of the stitched indented rectangle. Adhere the kitty to the square. Use foam squares to adhere the photo frame 5/8" from the top and 1/2" from the left of the stitched indented rectangle.
Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the pumpkins to the bottom right side of the frame. Adhere the tab to the top left side of the frame.
Adhere the Boo! fishtail underneath the pumpkins, so that the banner covers the photo word. Adhere the arrow underneath the Boo! sentiment.
To finish the card, cut a cardbase out of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.
Here are a few closeup photos of the finished card.
