Mermaid Kisses & Starfish Wishes

Happy Wednesday!

I've been busy playing with Joset Designs newest collection of adorable sea themed dies. So, for today's project, I created this cute Mermaid Kisses & Starfish Wishes Card. To create my card, I've used a variety of dies from Joset Designs. You'll want to read below as I have a full tutorial on how to recreate my card at home.

Start by diecutting a 3 1/2" Stitched Rounded Rectangle out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Diecut a 4" Stitched Rounded Rectangle out of a piece of mermaid like patterned paper.

The next five steps use the Mermaid Die.

Die cut the hair pieces out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of each piece.

Die cut the mermaid bottom out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the piece.

Die cut the head, hands and body out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of each piece.

Die cut the head band, bikini top, flipper and trim out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of each piece.

Die cut the mouth and eyes out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the mouth. Colours the eyes using a black marker.

From the Mermaid die, die cut the crown out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. From the Diving Accessories die, die cut the starfish out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of each piece.

For the next three steps, you'll need the Seaweed die.

Die cut the rocks out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of two of the rocks. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the other two rocks.

Die cut the coral pieces out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the large coral piece and one of the small coral pieces. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of a second coral piece. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the last coral pieces.

Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 3/4" x 3 1/2". Die cut the edge die out of cardstock piece. Round the bottom left and right corners of the piece. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the piece.

Adhere your mermaid together.

Adhere the 3 1/2" rectangle piece to the 4" rectangle piece.

Adhere the sand piece to the bottom of the 3 1/2" rectangle.

Foam square the large coral piece to the left hand side of the 3 1/2" rectangle. Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the other three coral pieces to the right hand side of the 3 1/2" rectangle as desired.

Around the large coral piece, adhere a brown and grey rock as desired. Around the three coral pieces, adhere the remaining rocks and the starfish as desired.

Adhere the mermaid in behind the coral pieces. Apply Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink to the Mermaid Kisses & Starfish Wishes stamp from the Splish Splash Sentiments. Stamp the sentiment to the top right side of the 3 1/2" rectangle.

Cut a cardbase out of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 4 1/4" x 11", score at 5 1/2". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.

Here are a few closeup photos of the finished card.
