Christmas Fun with Character Dies - August Designer Challenge

It's time for a new Designer Challenge on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog today.  For August's challenge it's all about Christmas Fun with Character Dies. The inspiration for my project came from Joset Designs new Polar Bear Die and Words 5 - Winter Wishes. With those two dies in hand, I also added a few other dies from Els van de Burgt and paper from ModaScrap to create my Happy Holidays card. Grab your favourite beverage and read below as I have a tutorial for you so that you can re-create my Happy Holidays Card at home. You'll also want to read all the way down to the bottom of the post as there's some information on how to get in on the fabulous giveaway from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

To start, die cut the 4 1/2" Stitched Fishtail out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Choose a piece of patterned paper from the ModaScrap Let It Snow paper pack. Die cut the 4" Stitched Fishtail out of the chosen patterned paper. Ink the edges of both stitched fishtail using a blending tool with foam and Black Soot Distress Ink.

Choose a second piece of patterned paper from the Let It Snow Paper Pack. Die cut the medium Entwined Circle out of the chosen patterned paper. Ink the edges of the entwined circle using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the 3 1/4" Stitched Circle out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the edges of the stitched circles using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the same piece of patterned paper that you cut the entwined circle from, cut a piece that measures 4 5/8" x 5 7/8". Ink the edges of the patterned paper piece using a blending tool with foam and Black Soot Distress Ink.

From the Winter Sweater die, die cut three snowflakes out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Die cut all the elements from the Polar Bear die except for the fish out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Also die cut the Happy Holidays sentiment from Words 5 - Winter Wishes out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.
Using a Blending Tool with Foam and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, ink the edges of the polar bear, feet, paws, pom pom, hat trim and his mouth.

Using a blending tool with foam, blend Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the hat and the Happy Holidays.

Using a blending tool with foam, blend Hickory Smoke Distress Ink over the entire surface of the paws and ears.

Using a blending tool with foam, blend Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the eyes and nose.

Now it's time for assembly.

Adhere the 4" stitched fishtail to the 4 1/2" stitched fishtail.

Adhere the stitched circle to the entwined circle. Foam square the entwined circle to the middle of the 4" stitched fishtail.

Adhere the polar bear together. Foam square the polar bear to the middle of the stitched circle.

Adhere the Happy Holidays sentiment below the stitched circle and entwined circle.

Foam square the 4 1/2" stitched fishtail to the 4 5/8" piece of patterned paper. Adhere the three snowflakes as desired around the stitched fishtails. To finish off the snowflakes, add a transp. glitter/gold dot to the centers of the snowflakes.

Cut a cardbase that measures 6" x 9 1/2", score at 4 3/4". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.

Here are a few closeup shots of the card.

And here's the finished Happy Holidays Card.
