It's Your Birthday Card

I was busy playing with Joset's Safari Collection this past weekend and created a fun birthday card. With a few of the dies figured out from Joset Designs as well as dies and patterned paper from ModaScrap, I created this fun It's Your Birthday Card. You'll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my It's Your Birthday card at home.

To start, die cut the 4 3/4" Dashing Squares out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the edges of the square using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the 4 3/4" Stitched Hexagon out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Sprinkle Olive Magenta Nuance powder over top of the hexagon. Spritz the powder with water. Once the paper has dried, ink the edges of the hexagon using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Choose a patterned paper piece from the ModaScrap - Magic Mountain Paper Pack. Die cut the 5 1/4" Stitched Hexagon out of the patterned paper piece. Ink the edges of the hexagon using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the Jungle Leaves, die cut one of the leaves twice out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Shabby Shutters Distress Ink over the entire surfaces of the leaves.

Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the It's Your Birthday sentiment and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Cut apart the sentiment as desired. Ink the edges of each word or words using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the Party Accessories die, die cut the crown out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Fossilized Amber Distress Ink over the entire surface of the crown.

From the Monkey Die, die cut all of the elements for the monkey out except for the banana out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Ground Espresso Distress Ink over the entire surface of the head, body, tail, arms and legs. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Tea Dye Distress Ink over the entire surface of the face, ears, tummy, hands and feet.

Adhere the 4 3/4" stitched hexagon to the 5 1/4" stitched hexagon. Foam square the 5 1/4" stitched hexagon to the 4 3/4" dashing square.

On the left hand side of the stitched hexagons, adhere the two jungles leaves.

Adhere your monkey together. Adhere the crown to the top of the monkey's head. Once the monkey is adhere, add a nose and mouth with a black pen. Foam square the monkey to the middle of the 4 3/4" stitched hexagon.

Adhere the It's Your Birthday sentiments to the left hand side of the monkey as desired. Adhere the Go Bananas! sentiment to the right hand side of the monkey. To finish off the card, cut a card base that measures 4 3/4" x 9 1/2", score at 4 3/4". Adhere the card front to the card base.

Here are a few closeups photos of the finished card.
