Elizabeth Craft Designs Samples Part 1

The day got away from me today and I mean't to post a couple of the samples I created for Elizabeth Craft Designs earlier. So today, I'm sharing with you two cards that were on display at the Crafters Home Event and Creativeworld in Frankfurt. My first card is a Thinking of You card featuring one of the new Modascrap dies, Els van de Burgt Studio dies and General Sentiments stamp.

The Lacy Poppies are die cut out of White Soft Finish Cardstock and then coloured using Dusty Concord and Seedless Preserves Distress Ink. For the Stitched Oval, it was die cut out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. The Stitched Rectangle is die cut out of black double dot paper.
With the lacy poppy cut out, foam square the poppies to the stitched oval. Adhere the stitched oval to the middle of the stitched rectangle. Once the oval has been adhered to the stitched rectangle, adhere the stitched rectangle piece to the cardbase.

For the sentiment, apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the "Thinking of You" sentiment. Stamp the sentiment onto a piece of White Soft Finish. With the sentiment stamped, cut out the sentiment using the Stitched Fishtail Banners. Adhere the sentiment banner to the bottom of the stems on the poppies.

- Bo Bunny: Black Licorice Double Dot

For my second card, I used the new Apron and Kitchen Tools dies from Joset Designs as well as a few dies from Els van de Burgt Studios and the General Sentiments stamp.

The Apron was die cut out of plaid paper from lawn fawn. For the ruffles, heart and trim on the apron they were cut out of cranberry double dot paper. For the pocket, tie and the piece around the neck were cut out of pink double dot paper. The tools in the pocket are die cut from the kitchen tools from White Soft Finish Cardstock and blend Fired Brick Distress Ink on the tools. For the Scalloped Oval, it was die cut once out of White Soft Finish Cardstock and then the stitched oval one size up is die cut from pink double dot paper. The Stitched Rectangle is die cut out of cranberry double dot paper. Adhere all the pieces onto the apron. Once the apron has been assembled, foam square the apron to the middle of the white scalloped oval. Adhere the white scalloped oval to the pink scalloped oval. Adhere the pink scalloped oval to the middle of the cranberry stitched rectangle.

For the sentiment, apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the "You're so sweet" sentiment. Stamp the sentiment onto a piece of White Soft Finish. With the sentiment stamped, cut out the sentiment using the Stitched Fishtail Banners. Adhere the sentiment banner to the bottom right hand side of the card front. To finish the sentiment banner, die cut two hearts from the Entwined Hearts die using cranberry double dot paper.

Hugs & Kisses Pillow Box

With the craziness of Creativation now finished, I finally have time to do some blogging. So, today I'm sharing a project featuring a Hug's and Kisses Pillow box for Valentine's Day using Els van de Burgt Studio Pillow Box with Handle. To add more detail to my pillow box, I used some other Els van de Burgt Studio dies as well as some dies from Joset Designs. I have a tutorial below for you so that you can recreate this cute Pillow Box for Valentine's Day.

1. Die cut the Pillow Box with Handle from red double dot paper. With the pillow box cut out, place the 2 1/4" fitted heart in the middle of the pillow box and die cut it.

2. Using acetate, die cut the 2 1/4" Stitched Heart.

3. From the Arrows die, die cut the Arrow heart out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Once cut, use a blending tool and blend Black Soot Distress Ink over the entire arrow.

4. From the Love Sentiments die, die cut the Hugs sentiment out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Once cut, use a blending tool and blend Spun Sugar Distress Ink over the entire word.

5. From the Leafy Branch 4 die, die cut four branches out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Once cut, use a blending tool and blend Peeled Paint Distress Ink over all the branches.

6. From the Fitted Hearts die, die cut the 1" heart out of red double dot paper.
7. From the Stitched Hearts die, die cut the 3 1/4" stitched heart out of pink double dot paper. Once the heart has been cut out, place the next smaller stitched heart in the middle and cut it out. This will create the the cut out middle to go around the acetate heart.

8. Adhere the acetate stitched heart to the heart cut out on the Pillow Box.

9. Adhere the sides of the pillow box together, making sure the flap with the notch is in the inside of the pillow box.

10. Next, adhere the pink stitched heart around to the front of the pillow box, making sure it sits on the edge of the acetate heart.

11. Now it's time to decorate the front of the pillow box. To start, adhere two of the leafy branches on the left hand side of the pink heart. Once the leafy branches on the left hand side have been adhered, adhere the other three branches to the right hand side of the pink heart. With the branches adhered, adhere the arrow to the middle of the acetate heart. To finish off the arrow, adhere the hugs sentiment overtop of the arrow.

12. To finish the front of the pillow box, add the 1" heart to the middle of the leafy branches. To finish the pillow box, first add some hugs & kisses into the pillow box. The last step to finishing your pillow box is adhering the top of the box together and then adding a white bow to the right hand side of the handle.

Here are a few close up photos of the pillow box finished.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my Hugs & Kisses Pillow Box. I hope that I've inspired you to re-create my Hugs & Kisses Pillow Box at home.

Focus On You Scrapbook Layout

Today is an exciting day as I get to Guest Design for Wild Whisper. For those of you who don't know who Wild Whisper is, they manufacture 12x12 paper collections, 4x6 and 3x4 card packs as well as they carry a boutique of embellishments. For my guest design project, I created a scrapbook layout featuring their new collection "Focus on You". Make sure to grab a cup of your favourite beverage and enjoy the tutorial below so that you'll be able to recreate my layout at home.

To start, you'll need to apply Emboss It ink to five of the cork stars. Once the ink has been added to the stars, sprinkle Glacier White Embossing Powder overtop of the stars. Tap off the excess powder and emboss the stars and emboss with your heat tool. Set the stars aside to cool.

Next, you'll need an abstract frame. Apply Emboss It ink to the frame and sprinkle Dusk Stone Violet Embossing Powder overtop of the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss the frame. Set the frame aside to cool.

From the 3x4 cards, cut out three feathers, the heart, the camera and the flowers bouquets.  You'll also need to select a 4x6 card and a 3x4 card. You'll want to edge distress the edges of the 4x6 and 3x4 cards. Make sure to ink the edges of the cards and cut out images using Black Soot Distress Ink.

From the floral paper, cut out two flower bouquets, four orange flowers and four yellow flowers. Make sure to ink the edges of the flowers using Black Soot Distress Ink.

Using the brand new stamp set that matches the collection, apply Dusty Concord Distress Ink to the "Focus On You" sentiment. Stamp the sentiment onto a piece of white cardstock. Cut the cardstock sentiment down to fit. You'll need to distress the edges of the sentiment and then ink the edges using Black Soot Distress Ink.

From the ombre star paper, cut a piece that measures 2 3/4" x 6" You'll need to distress the edges of the paper and then ink the edges using Black Soot Distress Ink.

From the woodgrain paper, cut a piece that measures 2 3/4" x 6". You'll need to distress the edges of the paper and then ink the edges using Black Soot Distress Ink.

From the feather paper, cut a piece that measures 3" x 8 3/4" and a piece that measures 2 3/4" x 6". You'll need to distress the edges of both papers and then ink the edges using Black Soot Distress Ink.

From the white star paper, cut a piece that measures 3 1/4" x 4 1/4". You'll need to distress the edges of the paper and then ink the edges using Black Soot Distress Ink.

Now it's time for assembling your layout. Start by adhering the large feather piece of paper to the base of your layout. Once the feather paper has been adhered, adhere the woodgrain paper slightly overtop of the feather paper. With the feather paper adhered, foam square the ombre star paper slightly overtop of the woodgrain and feather paper.

Adhere the 4x6 card slightly overtop of the woodgrain paper. With the 4x6 card adhered, adhere the 3x4 card in the middle of the 4x6 card. Once the 3x4 card is adhered, foam square the orange word paper in the middle of the woodgrain paper and the ombre star paper.

Foam square the orange feather to the 3x4 card. Foam square the white star paper to the middle of the orange word paper.

In the bottom portion of the white star paper, you'll want to adhere or foam square a flower bouquet, heart, 3 flowers, the camera, the other two feathers and the focus on you sentiment as desired.

In the top portion of the white star paper, you'll want to adhere or foam square the other flower bouquet and the rest of the flowers.

Adhere your photo to the frame. With the photo adhered to the foam square your frame slightly on the left hand side of the white star paper. Once the frame is adhered, adhere three white stars in the top right hand corner and two white stars in the bottom left hand corner. To finish your layout, add dots of Glossy Accents to the centres of the flowers and berries.

Your layout is now complete. Here are a few close up pictures of the elements once they've been adhered to the layout.

Gladiolus Sympathy Card on the Emerald Creek Dares Blog

The Emerald Creek design team is sharing all this week some of the new products that will be released at Creativation (formerly known as CHA) on Saturday. There are some fantastic new products that you won't want to miss out on, so make sure to get your order in early! It's all about the new products for our projects this month and the design team has created some wonderful projects for you.  For my piece, Kim challenged me to use the new Gladiolus stamp, so I ended up creating a sympathy card that features the new stamp as well as the fabulous new stones. I'm warning you now, that you'll definitely want to order all the stones! Grab a cup of your favourite beverage and enjoy reading my tutorial so that you can recreate my sympathy card at home. Also make sure to scroll down to the bottom as I'am also sharing my class I will be teaching in the Emerald Creek Craft Supplies Booth.

To start, apply Emboss It ink to the You are in our thoughts stamp. Stamp onto a piece of 100lb White Cardstock. Once the sentiment has been stamped, sprinkle Midnight Black Embossing powder overtop. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with your heat tool. Let your sentiment cool. Once your sentiment has cooled, cut it down and create a banner out of it.

Take a edge distressor and distress the edges of the sentiment banner. With a blending tool, ink the edges of the sentiment banner with Black Soot Distress Ink. With the edges inked, on the sentiment banner, mount the sentiment onto a piece of black cardstock. With the sentiment on the black cardstock. Cut around the banner leaving a 1/8" of black showing. Take a edge distressor and distress the edges of the black cardstock banner. With a blending tool, ink the edges of the black cardstock banner with Black Soot Distress Ink.

Next, you'll want to apply Jet Black Archival ink to the Gladiolus stamp and stamp onto a piece of 100lb White Cardstock.  Reapply the ink to the stamp and stamp another flower image. When stamping your flower, make sure to leave enough room around both flowers, so that you can create a base to adhere your coloured gladiolus. Cut one of the flower images to 2" x 3 3/4".  Once the flower image has been cut, distress the edges of the paper and use a blending tool with Black Soot Distress Ink on it to ink the edges of the paper.

Colour the other flower using Candied Apple and Mowed Lawn Distress Markers. Once the flower has been coloured, fussy cut it out. After the flower has been cut out, use your blending tool with Black Soot Distress Ink on it to go around the edges of the flower. Adhere three black stones in the centre of each flower. Once the three black stones have been adhered in the centres, adhere a silver/gold stone in the middle of the black stones.

Cut a piece of 100lb White cardstock that measures 3 1/2" x 4 3/4". With the cardstock cut, apply Emboss It ink to the Kimilese stamp and stamp onto the top portion of your paper. Reapply the Emboss It ink the stamp and stamp onto the bottom portion of the same piece of white cardstock.  With the words stamped, sprinkle Midnight Black Embossing Powder over the entire piece of cardstock. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Let the embossing cool. With the embossing cooled, apply Candied Apple and Festive Berries Distress Ink over the entire surface which ends up creating your own custom background paper. Once your happy with the red ink on your paper, distress the edges of the paper and then ink the edges using Black Soot Distress Ink on a blending tool.

Cut a piece of black cardstock that measures 2 1/4" x 4". Use a edge distressor to distress the edges of the paper.

Cut a piece of red cardstock that measures 4" x 5 1/4". Use a edge distressor to distress the edges of the paper. Once the edges have been distressed, ink the edges using a blending tool and Black Soot Distress Ink.

Now it's time to assemble the card. Adhere the non coloured flower to the black piece of cardstock. Foam square the black piece of cardstock 1/2" from the left and top of the custom background paper.

Adhere the custom background to the black piece of cardstock. Adhere the black piece of cardstock to the red piece of cardstock.

Foam square the coloured Gladiolus to the black and white Gladiolus image.

Cut a card base from 100lb White Cardstock that measures 5 1/2" x 11" and score at 4 1/4". Adhere the "You are in our thoughts" banner to the right of the Gladiolus image. Once the sentiment has been adhered, adhere the card front to the cardbase. To finish the card, add seven black stones in the bottom left and top right corner to create photo corners.

Here are a few close up shots of my card.
